Lacoste - A Succinct Story.

Lacoste: The History

Lacoste is a French company and was formed in 1933 by French tennis player, Rene Lacoste. It was during the 1926 US open championship which Rene won which seen him wear the first sport performance clothing. Rene wore a cotton polo shirt which was supposed to reduce sweat.

After the 1926 championship win, Rene's friend drew him a crocodile which he embroidered onto his tennis shirts. This was to become known as Lacoste's famous logo.

It wasn't until his retirement from Tennis that Rene introduced other shirts and started the foray into fashion 1933. During the 1950's and 60's Rene's son Bernard took over the Lacoste empire and started to really expand the product both in the range and to new markets internationally.

During the 1970s Lacoste became a really popular brand in the huge USA market. In the 1980's Lacoste further increased the product range into items other than clothing, notably aftershave and toiletries.

Nowadays there are over 50 million Lacoste products sold nationally covering a diverse group of people from the scallies of Liverpool to the up and rising tennis stars. One of Lacoste's most successful and popular products is the polo shirts with the distinctive logo to the left chest. Since the turn of 2000 these have been in massive demand and still continue to be many stores' most popular product.

A Brief Review of the Origins of the Modern Day Hoody

G Star - An Overview of the Hoody

Reference: G Star Raw Clothing.

The modern day hoody as we recognize it now can be traced all the way back to the Middles Ages era of history during which time a hooded cowl was worn by monks.

The re-emergence of the hoody in recent times can be traced to the pre-World War Two age where it was favored by workmen in hard environments e.g. warehouses, as a protection against the cold of winter. The Champion company saw the opportunity and became one of the first producers of the hoody and this promoted its popularity amongst the working class.

When Claire McCardell included the hoody as main aspect of her range of clothing designs, the hoody quickly earned widespread appeal and adoption as an item of everyday fashion

The recent acceptance of the hoody, and the extent of it's adoption in every day life, probably dates back to the 1970s and the hip hop culture. The hoody provides rapid anonymity and cover and is popular for criminals. This gave the hoody an edgy cool. Popular culture quickly caught on. For example the hoody was a central icon in the movie ‘Rocky’. The hoody gained kudos as a gritty urban clothing item before very long. The hoody has since been This was furthered by its adoption by the urban poor in both the UK, the USA and parts of Europe. and has gone on to be an extremely popular and widespread garment.

Countless companies now design and make hoodys. A remarkable case in point is the G Star range of hoodies - check out this example G Star Mens Hoody.

Do Authentic Men Wear Pink?

Pink is is so often a colour that we associate with being gay, when it is worn by a man. And so when you see a man wearing a pink shirt do you jump to conclusions about his sexual identity? You may be surprised to know that pink can look really good on some men. So the question for you is, if you are a man, would you wear pink?

The color pink has its own unique style. It can look classic and fashionable, especially the more subtle pink tones, such as pastels. More vivid shades of pink should be avoided where possible because they tend to look vulgar or rebellious (shocking pink was a major colour of punk rock fashion).

What Does Pink Match?

Pink is an attractive colour in many ways. It looks especially good on people with brown or black hair. Pink also goes nicely with several colours, particularly salmon, some orange shades, the browns and black (but be sensible here). Pink also looks especially nice alongside white, for example a pink tie on a white shirt.

Where should pink be worn?

Pink shirts can be work in for most occasions: in the office, in a bar, on your days off, in the supermarket.

Of course you should not wear pink on occasions where a dress code will be broken, e.g. a funeral. Indeed neither would you wear your pink shirt when this possibly will put you in an awkward spot, for example at an interview for a job or a high level meeting.

Pink can look really great on a man.
